St Lucia Kings have received a huge jolt in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026, with Afghanistan left-arm wristspinner Noor Ahmad being ruled out for the whole of the tournament after the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) revoked his No-Objection Certificate (NOC).
Noor will miss Kings in 2026 CPL, the franchise confirmed. The Afghan bowler was no doubt set to play a pivotal part in the team’s bowling approach given he’d played so well for the franchise.
Noor was the linchpin of St Lucia Kings’ title-winning run in 2024. That year, he appeared in all twelve games and became the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 22 wickets at an economy of only 6.19. He played a vital role in making the Kings win the CPL trophy.
Noor cannot now join the St Lucia squad in the Caribbean as a result of the latest development. The franchise also alleged that the player had not even gone to the West Indies before this NOC was revoked.
St Lucia Kings bolster their squad with New Zealand batter wicketkeeper Tim Seifert Shafali is a seasoned T20 player and will join the side having had excellent campaigns with Manchester Super Giants in England’s men’s Hundred.
The Hundred was also excellent for Seifert, scoring 394 runs in 10 innings, second-most of anybody at a SR of 168.37. He also produced a man of the match display in the final for Manchester Super Giants, hitting 72 off just 38 balls to help them secure the title.
Seifert already knows the CPL and St Lucia structure well. He had earlier played for the Trinbago Knight Riders and has also played for the Kings in recent seasons. He ended CPL 2025 as the top scorer for his side, having amassed 396 runs in 10 innings at a strike-rate of 169.23.
Status: St Lucia Kings are fourth with two wins in five matches, CPL 2026 Noor Ahmad missing out on the enemy, with Seifert’s addition could strengthen their batting order to make a push for another playoff qualification.
